Mental health and wellbeing showcase
November 20 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
This session will showcase three amazing social enterprises with a particular interest in mental health and wellbeing, and active across a range of thematic areas including community food, culture, employability, health and sport.
As a result of Covid19, each of the social enterprises have been required to respond in different ways to continue addressing the needs of their customers and in being able to continue operating as a social enterprise.
Firstly, we’ll hear from CairnsMoir Connection who pre Covid 19 would have described themselves as providing conference bookstalls, online sales and resource signposting for those living or working with the impact of trauma and childhood adversity. Find out how they have adjusted their approach.
We’ll then hear from Projekt 42, a wellness centre which combines personal training, group fitness, yoga and mental health services. They aim to help people understand the connection between physical fitness and mental health. Lockdown and re-opening has been difficult and they have had to adapt their services significantly as a result of the pandemic. They are going to speak about one of the programmes they have adapted how they intend to continue to deliver their programmes differently into the future.
The third showcase will be CentreStage, an arts academy which was founded with the ethos that anyone can gain life changing social benefits through participation in the arts. They are going to talk about how they have continued to engage with their community since lockdown began and help promote positive mental wellbeing. They will also talk about how they are using this time to renovate their new home and literally rebuild for the future!
We will complete the morning with an interactive singing activity to try and alleviate any and of the week stress, with this being led by Morven Gilday, Choirmaster for Grassmarket Community Project Choir.
